is new faces modeling website a scam?

ive been seeing alot of people say that this is a scam but im not sure because all the claims say "they approached us in the mall" "we met with this guy" "they made us do a photo shoot through them" but im just trying to do the free sign up on the website, you put up your own picture, you get a free account, and then people/agents contact you if they like you. i dont see how it could be a scam and if nothing comes out of it i didnt lose any money, i want someone who has done this to answer

There are two different companies using the "New Faces" name
One of them approaches people in malls and makes people pay for photoshoots -- that isnot the same company as the casting website newfaces.com

The website NewFaces.com has been around since 1995 http://whois.domaintools.com/newfaces.com
You would not expect a scam company to be around for almost 20 years.
