Response to my craiglist ad - certified check?
Some one responded to my craigslist add, pasting the response below:
==================================== I'm willing and ready to make an instant purchase and also wouldn't mind adding an extra $25 for you to close the ad on craigslist so I can be rest assured I'm the potential buyer. My method of payment would be through a certified bank check and it will get mailed to you via FedEx or UPS courier service. Do not worry about pick up because my movers will be coming after check has been cashed. Kindly provide me with the following information to facilitate mailing of the check. 1. Full Name to be on the check 2. Address where payment will be sent to not p.o.box ( because my courier service does not deliver to p.o box ) 3. City 4. State 5. Zip Code 6. Mobile Phone # NB: I would like to also inform you that there will be an excess amount of funds which you will forward to my movers for shipment purpose. Thanks. ================ This guy is telling me that only when I en-cash his cheque, I can give it to his movers. Sounds like I'm safe but please warn me if it is scam Ads |

There are lots of off shore scam artists offering bad checks, often they don't actually want your goods, they will just ask you to pay some fees out of the check which is where they profit from the bad check. Offering to pay more than asking price is a big red flag, pay attention to the Craigslist warnings, only deal with local people you can meet face to face.

SCAM
I don't know why people ignore Craigslist's very clear scam warnings http://www.craigslist.org/about/scams ONLY a scammer offers MORE money - a real buyer tries to get you to reduce the price. Scammers offer more because they target people whose greed is stronger than their common sense And you NEVER give out your home address to anyone on Craigslist Tell him you are sorry but it's CASH ONLY and he or his mover must meet you at Starbucks, police station parking lot, bank, etc or no sale. It's a typical fake check scam that will get you arrested as this guy and thousands of other victims of this scam find out every month http://www.sfgate.com/business/article/C...553957.php |
