Is there a setup fee for Google Adwords?
Is anyone familiar with Google Adwords? Is it better than LinkedIn? I really need to know about cost...
Do you prefer Google Adwords or LinkedIn Advertising?

There is no relationship between between Google Adwords and Linkedin Advertising - just like comparing apples with grapes.

There is no set up costs with Google Adwords but you must credit Google Adwords with an amount, so as your ads are clicked upon, your account is debited. If you don't place more funds into your account your ads will disappear when your account balance reaches zero.

I haven't got any experience with Linkedin Advertising - I would imagine that it would be more effective for headhunting, and advertising services & products directly related to professional training, career advancements and other areas specifically directed towards work related matters.

Adwords is basically applicable for everything

No, there is no setup fee for Google Adwords...but once you realize how much they're squeezing from your wallet in high CPC, you will realize that you have been set up!

I haven't tried LinkedIn but heard it's good for B2B advertising.

I use google adwords and i think it's pretty good on the whole...the only thing i don't like is when your ads get banned. Cost is cheap especially if you are a beginner because you can usually get $50 / $100 free to start you off and that is as simple as typing in a free code...these can be found all over the internet. LinkedIn is nothing to do with but keywords...it's a social media site like facebook....as to purchasing ads on linkedin i've no idea...but i don't see it being as good as google - as more people use google than anything else. Also you can bid on some long tail keywords for 1 cent...that's what i would do if i were you - get some long expressions (lots of them) and pay 1cent per click.

Keyword relevancy is one of the keys to success with Google AdWords. While it may be tempting to include all sorts of keywords you can get your hands on, be aware that this is often the #1 mistake advertisers make when creating their first campaign. You only want prospects who “Need You Now” and are going to be motivated to contact your company, or purchase your services if they click your ad. People bid on the wrong keywords all the time and it hurts them big time. My company was losing an average of $0.67 per click until Simon over at RDM (his email is simon.b@resultsdriven.org) helped us get our ducks in a row with the campaign and now it makes $2.19 per click on average instead of -$0.67. If you speak with him let him know your a friend of Samuel Anderson
