Website & Graphic Design?
I am recently in talks with somebody about designing me a website for my garden business. However I am not at all technical minded and would like more information about what questions I need to be asking and also how much I should be roughly looking to pay.
I do not have any graphic design and would also be interested in finding out more infoformation. I have several pictures of work that I have carried out, and would also like to include my twitter feed to my website and of course include testimonials.

Any information and advice would be greatly appreciated.
Yes it is a young school leaver who has offered to design my website he is charging £225 and then £5 per month to the server plus £10 per hour thereafter for any changes I need to make.

Careful - make sure they are not going to take you for a ride.
In other words charge you thousands for something extremely simple.

Consider putting an ad in a college paper.
Just about any kid knows how to do this.
Even high school kids know how to do this well.
In your family - any smart teenage boys?
They would LOVE that job.

I learned web design in a weekend by reading a book.
It's not rocket science.

It really depends on what the quality of the designer is, what type of elements you want to include on your site (galleries, contact form, cart, calendar etc) and what you already have done. You will also probably need to pay for a domain name and a host (not too expensive). If you want a fairly simple portfolio type of layout then that should not be that expensive and could probably even be run off of wordpress.

If you are getting a website designed then you will probably need a brand so you can build a website based on your brand (when I say brand I mean general look and logo). Again it depends on the kind of designer you hire. Logos can cost anywhere between $50 and $1000 depending on how in depth you want it to be. It's always good to speak with your designer about your budget and see if they can work with you.

If you want more info feel free to send me a message. I can do a nice looking logo for you if you are interested.

£225 is pretty steep for a small business website...
check this out... http://www.simmonslandscaping.net/ i did this for a small business in Dublin,Georgia...
It covered every aspect and does pretty well on search engines bringing potential new clients to the site everyday(that's all what a business website needs)... for £70 ...and same $5/mo from a reputed hosting server after that...
No upfront payment, payment after the work completion and ur satisfaction...

it is expensive...try freelancegrid com and get an expert to help you with this...request them to submit some quotes...and again, this is something very complex as you know.. and my recommended website developer / designed is F41 who did my website like this. It is just for your information and i guess this will work for you too.
