How to let my parents let me have facebook?
I'm 14 and my mum and dad had a Devorce because my mum had an affaire with a guy on Facebook. Since then my dad has been very strongly against Facebook and said i can't have it. All my cousins told me to get it and he won't even find out... Today one of my cousins said to my dad
' why don't you let her have facebook? She is old enough and she can only have people she knows on it'
He replied
' she can have it for me, I won't stop her'
Even though he said i can have it I wanna double check before I get it and I don't know how to get him to mention it againe!
I want it so i can-:
Get in touch with old freinds
Get in touch with freinds more
?? Thanks x

Well, first of all, you don't need facebook to connect with old friends or make new ones... there are plenty of other methods for that. But if you really feel the need to have one, what i would do is just make one! I highly doubt your dad will go around searching your name on facebook, and also he said it would be ok to your cousin, so it doesnt really matter IMO.

Why do you have to wait for your dad to mention it again? This is your dad. Ask him again. Tell him what your cousin told you and ask if it's the truth.

One thing I wouldn't do is go behind your dad's back. Your cousin is wrong...he WILL find out about it and when he does, the consequences won't be pretty.

I'm linking an article that you could show your dad. It has some guidelines for kids starting out on the Internet. Read them together and the two of should be able to reach a compromise on what to follow and what to throw away.

One thing I can tell you just from your question: You need to stop sharing personal information. You just told a bunch of strangers about your mom's affair and your parents' divorce. Not cool. So, I would suggest that if dad lets you get Facebook, he check out anything you want to post BEFORE you post it so nothing inappropriate gets out there.
