I'm shy how can I make him like me?

Well I'll start off by saying that I am extremely shy around everyone that is not my best friend, especially guys and specifically guys I like. And I have liked a few guys before (I'm 16) and I've always been too shy to even talk to them more than a few words. So it never works out for me and I'm getting really sick and tired of it.

So I like this guy now and he is a year younger than me so we don't have any classes together. And I sit beside him in band at school. So we talk then but it's only small talk and usually only about band related things. And I really want to talk to him outside of band but like I said we don't have any classes together and I feel awkward just going up to him randomly in the hall or something. And I don't know what to talk about. And he doesn't have facebook or any social media. And you're probably thinking just talk about anything and get to know him it's not that hard. But it is that hard for someone who is shy. So I really don't know what to do. Because he has no clue that I like him and who knows what he thinks of me. I just want it to different this time. He is different than all the other guys I have liked. I want him to notice me and like me two. I am just so shy I don't know how to make that happen.
