Can I Use An Australian Internet Stick In The US?

I'm soon traveling to the US from Australia and am wondering if I can use my Telstra USB 3G internet stick while I'm there. I'll be visiting friends in a small country town, and I'm not sure if they'd have internet sticks there.

You need to call your provider to determine whether they allow for international use. If at all possible, it will be VERY expensive. I suggest that you contact a local cellular provider here in the US and prepay. You can buy a dongle fairly inexpensively. T-Mobile, Cricket, etc. Ask your friends if they have Wifi? Most towns have full internet capabilities here even in rural areas. Free wifi is available at bookstores, McDonalds,most airports etc.

Check with the company and see if they supply coverage in the US. Some companies have partnerships with other ISPs in different countries. At a guess, I'd say no, but you need to check. They may also have a rate for traveling to a different country.

Also check to ensure you won't get dinged with roaming fees. Might be a better idea to leave the stick at home, pick up one in the US or use free wifi
