why are people so quick to dismiss others?

No one can say an opinion or someone is quick to rebuttal in the most rude of way. Is this in part to social media and times we're currently living?

I'd say that, yes, it's definitely due in part to social media and even televised mass media as well. Being 'confrontational' seems to be the new 'cool' thing. Just look at the movies that come out. It seems that most are violent and are about conflict. You don't see all that many 'romantic' movies coming out these days.

I think it's also due to the person's upbringing and prior environments. Some people seem to have never learned how to have an actual conversation.
