Laptop can't connect to the internet but other devices can?

I have a laptop, and it says that it is connected to the internet but I can't use the internet. Example: when I open chrome, netflix, internet explorer, they all say unable to connect. My xbox and iphone connect to the wifi perfectly, but my PC can't. I'm not using a proxy and I've uninstalled my adapter and reinstalled it. Every once in a while, Norton will pop up and say it has found an error but just stays at the loading screen and does nothing. This is frustrating me and I have a science research paper due Friday so if I could resolve it soon, I would appreciate it. Thanks!

Sorry for the trouble. Can you please start the computer in Safe Mode with Networking and then see whether you can connect to the Internet? If so, run a scan using the free Norton Power Eraser tool: http://www.Norton.com/npe
