A domain name may only contain Latin letters, figures or hyphens and start with a letter or digit.

What does that mean.. what is an example?

These are some domain names which should show you

classydresses.co.uk all latin letters
party-frocks.com has a hyphen
laptops2go.co.uk has a digit

A domain name is just an easier way to represent the IP address for people to remember.

ThisisaDomainName.com - this is an example.
