How does one get OUT of Facebook?

I feel the need to close my Facebook account, but having trouble trying to accomplish it.. I've tried clicking on the 'padlock' & the gear wheel icon but none have account closing heading..

Do you mean you want to get rid of the account or just log out?
Getting rid of it is hard! But there are directions as to how you can delete your account on the internet if yu just search it.

Logging out: Click on the gear in the top right and click log out.

click the Menu button and scroll down to Account Settings. In the Account Settings menu, select General and then tap the Deactivate button. They will then ask you to select your reason for deactivating.Then press confirm and your facebook is deactivated.
