Chrome is my default browser, but outside links open in internet explorer?

Chrome doesn't show up in my Default Programs list so there's nothing I can associate it with. Any help?

Click the 3 bars in the upper right > Settings > scroll down to make it the default browser

In chrome - click on the three horizontal lines in the upper right corner then in the drop down menu click on Settings.
In the Settings window down at the bottom select make chrome default.
