Message not clear, are you promoting your site with ads placed on other sites. You probably do have to pay some ad network like Adwords to get your ads placed. Light advertising can be done for free on social sites like Facebook.

You can display banner ads on your own site much like a regular image with a link.

you want market your website, then give some space for clients and charge the amount for space or ad. 120x150. or 300 x 250.

or you want to put some ads without help of google adsense you may take affiliate from websites like qadabra.com is there. this is the one of the best google adsense alternate.
