Bought a cell phone online?
So this is my first time purchasing something kind of expensive online. It cost me 215USD. There was no tax charges shown, so either there is no tax on the item, or it was included in that $215. I believe the seller is located in and shipping from somewhere in China. I am in Germany. I got a message from her asking what price she should write down on the customs invoice for my country. Since this is all new to me, I had to look it up. I found something that said the following:
The import duty is calculated as a percentage of the customs value of the goods.
The customs value is made up of:
+ the price paid for the goods (sales tax included);
+ the insurance cost;
+ the shipping cost.
I assume from this that since there was no insurance cost that I payed for, and I went with the free shipping option, she only needs to write down the $215. Is this right? But this looks like it's just general information for everyone.. This seller has sold hundreds of the product I have purchased, so shouldn't she know how to do it? Is there some extra charge of shipping she pays so that it's free for me that she should be writing down? Did I misunderstand her question all together? Doing this stuff for the first time is confusing. Sad Am I just reading too much into her question? Please help me understand..

There will always be a next time, and next time even if they are expensive buy only from amazon and ebay. They have charges but atleast it is much safer to buy from there.
