How to stop ad video playing in google chrome and firefox browser?

I visit some websites and they play ad videos in the webpage, which is distracting. How do i stop that by doing some settings in google chrome? I am using firefox too. But i want to watch youtube video, so the setting should not affect that. How do do this?

I personally suggest you to use ADBLOCK application in the chrome browser.......It not helps in blocking ads ...but also stops from playing those unnecessary videos....... presuming u r using the latest chrome version....go to apps.....and then download ADBLOCK application.......Hope it helps....
