What is the best track to becoming a management consultant from sixth form?
Hey there!

I am currently 16 years old, studying AS-levels (History, English Literature, Business Studies and IT) and want to be a management consultant in 5 years.

Here is what I am currently doing in preparation:
I run a full-service digital marketing agency (agnewsolutions.co.uk) which provides clients with a full consultancy service covering many areas of digital marketing - I have already planned, designed, implemented, monitored and evaluated projects for many clients mainly websites and social media campaigns. I am targeting 50 clients for 2015, about 10 of which will be complex long-term projects.
Additionally, in the summer after my AS-levels I aim to undertake two 3-week work experience placements, one of which will be at a digital marketing agency (e.g. 9xb.com) and the other at a management consultancy with the aim of developing my consulting skills and my knowledge of digital marketing to improve my career prospects and provide a better service to my clients.

After my A-levels I want to go the Bath University (#1 for Business and student satisfaction) to study BSc (Hons) in Business Administration with 2 6 month work placements - it's a four year sandwich course which requires 3 As which I am confident I will achieve. At university I would aim to use my current company to support my living costs and over this time period would look to develop it into a successful management consultancy to showcase my expertise to potential employers.

I am pretty confident of what I want to do up to and including university. However, I would like to know more about management consultancy - the opportunities that are available to graduates and what I can do now to enhance my prospects and develop my skill set. I understand that many management consultants will specialise in an area and I am very passionate and experienced in digital marketing - definitely marketing, if not more focused.

Here's an example of where I would like to be in my late 20s:

In my mid-30s I would look to transition from a management consultancy to a venture capital firm as a director/partner depending on the size of the firm - with the aim of increasing my income and getting the direct benefits of my work.

In summary, if you have any of the following advice any feedback would be very much appreciated:
- What I can do NOW to enhance my university/career prospects (extra-curricular, certification/qualifications/training etc.)
- What I could do over the summer to enhance my prospects and develop my skills
- The routes to entering management consultancy (with/without an undergraduate degree) and the recruitment/training opportunities available i.e. straight from sixth form?)

Thanks for any help or guidance you can offer me!

Learn the value of brevity! No client will employ you if you can't compress salient facts into a couple of paragraphs.
