What information do I need to include to make my website better?
I have worked on a website for the last three years and do not have the advertising money the big companies have to promote their websites. I need to find a way to get more visitors to my website (BeddingHotline.com) to compete with those big companies. Do you have an idea that will help me? What my site offers is high quality mattresses at lower prices than our competitors but that is of no use to anyone if they don't know about it. If you have an idea please let me know. Thanks.

Do some market analysis - where are your customers, where can you reach them, how do your competitors reach their customers, what conversion rate do you have (visit to bed sales).

That should provide a lot of data to help you establish a marketing/sales strategy. If you have no in- house resources you can hire a marketing agency to help on, maybe on the SEO side or to run a marketing campaign. If your budget doesn't stretch that far you will have to be smarter than your competition and figure out something that provides good results.

Customer referrals and competitions are quite good ways to grow interest.

In addition to the market analysis that was mentioned, I would suggest a few things (not sure if you are doing some of them already).

1. Post on forums related to your business type and link your business website to it.

2. Could not find facebook page in search engine. I note there is a link to like your page which is wonderful however I think there should be another option for a direct link to your page without login.

3. On your youtube page , put a link to all your social media. everything should link back to the other.

4. Purchase an add on facebook, this will drive lots of traffic to your website.

If you need clarification or further assistance let me know.

You need to promote your website, especially in your targeted area. There are two easy ways (and by saying ‘easy’ I mean ‘free’) you can do that. The simplest interpretation of these methods are ‘search engine optimization’, ‘social media optimization’. There are few very basic things that you can do on your own.

If you want to optimize your site in order to achieve high ranking in search engines, the you need to do some keyword research first. Find some suitable keywords for your online business and using Google’s keyword research tool find out what are the search metrics of those keywords. If the search numbers are big then you have bigger competition. Google’s keyword research tool also shows how bigger your competition is. If you do some amount of on-page work and then off-page work, then after some times your website will start ranking. if you want to know what these on-page and off-page works are, I suggest you do a little bit research on Google. The options are way too many to write here.

I strongly feel you should do a lots of social media. Create account on behalf of your business in the biggest and most influential social media sites and promote your products there. Try to make connection with people who are specially in your targeted business area. Do not bombarded your friends and followers with only information of your product. Make your posts interesting and interactive. Google also have lots of suggestions in this particular issue.

There is also a paid and instant option. You can do PPC to instantly bring your links into the first page of search engines.

You have to be patients. Results wont’s come over night. But remember, avoid spamming.

One more thing, change your menu. Make it a simple one with html. The menu you already have, search engine crawlers won't be able to read them because you have them as images. (This is a part of on-page optimization I was talking about earlier)

Go to Yahoo/Google and enter the keywords that your site is about (mattresses, bedding). When you see the sites on the search results, go and visit these sites. When on the site, right click the mouse to see - View Source. There you will be able to see the keywords they are using, thus helping them to be on the top of these search engines. Your title tag (what you see on the browser area on top) has all the name brands, with the words - bedding and mattress in the end! The most important keyword needs to be in the front of the title (as in bedding or mattresses).
Plus, distinguish yourself from the other major sites - why should a prospective customer go with you instead of the competitors. As they say, "proof is in the pudding!" Hope this helps.
