Why get on google first page ranking?

you have a higher chance of getting traffic to your site if you are listed on page 1. some people believe that is the only way to get traffic to their sites.

btw.. i've read many times that the best positions on pg 1 are: 1,2,3,4,6 and 10

Because nobody has time to check all pages on Google. Users usually check only first and second page, if user can not find you on the first page they will find your other competitor. So, if you wish that users click your site then you have to be on the first page.
