Problems with Microsoft Outlook log in?

I have a Microsoft Outlook account that I used to use for emails until I switched to Gmail. Well, they made an update right before I switched where you had to change your password every certain period of time. And I don't remember the last password I used. And now, I'm needing to go into that account and check something, but I can't get in in any way. I tried recovering it and getting a single use code. But it's not working.. I need help.

use the forgot password link and follow through. no other way. had the same issue recently and basically microsoft doesn't care about free e-mail accounts.
