SEO is a combination of good meta tags and correct usage of key words and key phrases within content, used in the correct percentage. When photos and videos are used, then meta tagging and alternate text key words are most important.

No. SEO is a combination of many different factors.

Meta tags are very important as is:

- Regularly updating your site with original, well written content
- Server speed
- Where your host is located
- Interlinking this content to make it more friendly for users and search engines
- Building backlinks to your website from quality , relevant websites using various anchor texts
- etc etc

META tags are only a small part of the equation. Years ago, META keywords were very important in ranking sites, but people exploited this old loophole and the search engines changed their algorithms.

The two basic areas of SEO are on-page and off-page.

On-page is what you have direct control over: domain name, meta data, title tags, H1, H2 and so on, images, ALT tags, video and (importantly) quality unique content. Page load time, the presence of Google webmaster tools (configured properly) and other factors also exist.

Off-page is a combination of links back to your site, social sharing and relevant directory listings, with social sharing greatly increasing in importance, and with back links & directory listings declining in importance. If people like your content enough to share it, that's a good thing - both for getting found socially and for SEO.

There's a lot more to it than that, and exactly what is most effective is always changing, but keep in mind that the search engines want to deliver quality results.

No SEO doesn't mean of good meta tags. Meta tags are just a little part of SEO. But you can say meta tags are very important in SEO. Because its main role in search engine and crawling the website. Meta tags are main thing on a web page so you call meta tags as a big thing in SEO.
