How do i include my friend to get emails I get from my group I'm a part of in Gmail?

I'm a part of this group that I get emails from but I want my friend to get the emails too, subscribe I guess without having to go through the source. How do i do this in gmail? Forward them to her? I also want to know how the guy that controls the group sends out all the emails he gets to the rest of us. So in other words, he gets emails from different places and then we automatically get them too because we are on the subscribed list. How does that work?
