Having trouble finding work right out of Esthetician school?
I am a recent graduate of an Esthetics program at cosmetology school and I am hitting a complete dead end, about to give up. I've interviewed over and over at salons/spas, but it's the vicious circle of "You don't have experience" (But how can I get experience if you DON'T HIRE ME?).. I'm 20 years old and skin is my PASSION.. I try to broadcast this loud an clear when I talk to my interviewers, but it seems like it's just not enough. Of course, with being just out of school, I'm going to need some extra help on some of my skills, but I just don't know what more I can do! Anyone have some advice? I'm just about to give up on this dream.

If you can't get the job you want, you could work your way up from a cosmetics counter at a department store like Macy's, Ulta or a beauty supply shop. Military bases have cosmetics departments in their exchange. There's always Avon & other door to door brands to apply your knowledge. Other avenues are the cosmetics manufacturers who use sales reps for demos & trade shows, county fairs. Massage Envy hire Estheticians for facials, not including massages.

First, have you checked the My Social Beauty jobs board? That might have some options you haven't tried yet! Here's the link: http://www.mysocialbeauty.com/jobs-searc...ampaign=YA

Secondly, just like Bunny said, I would start thinking about unconventional beauty and cosmetology jobs, or even freelancing for a while until you can find the right salon or spa for you so you can build up your portfolio. Here is a list of job options for people in the beauty business!

Try message therapist training. You could do best at most spas which include message therapy and skin care.
