What happens when you join a Facebook closed group?

I want to join a closed group on Facebook, but I have one concern: will people in that group be able to see my profile even though they are not my friends?

I want to make sure that these people can only see my public profile and nothing more. Please tell me what I need to do.

people cannot see your profile until u make your profile private

They can see your profile just anyone who is not your friend can see it. The closed group changes nothing in that aspect, it just means that what ever you post in the group is seen only by people in the group and not your friends.
