Would my friends on Facebook be able to know it is my birthday if I have it set as private?

My Facebook is pretty private. Only my friends can see my post. I have made the settings in such way b/c there are lots of creeps and all out there and rather have the fewer friends I know in person or people I know (if they live in my country back home, family and relatives, and so forth) But barely ever do I add complete strangers. I've made very few exceptions though they were friends of my friends who were nice and added me and later became good friends, and so forth. Anyways, on my settings I have my birthday set as private. Thing is, I don't know if others would be able to see this on my page if they're my friend? I really would like m yfriends to know it's my day but I don't want everyone out in the world to know so that's why I don't list it on FB. So, would they still get the notification or notice on their activity log it's my bday without me havign to post about it??

Reason I ask is cuz I have noticed that I could still see the birthdays for some friends of mine (whom I'm not very close to) but have their profiles also set to very private. Like I would get a notification on the side of my page for whose birthday is upcoming.

Also, the other reason I ask is cuz even though I don't have too many friends, I still say I have a pretty good amount (a little over 250), but I noticed that I usually don't get many writing on my wall on my birthday so idk if other friends notice or what. I noticed too that it was mostly close friends who would write on my page. I was just wondering why and thought it could be cuz of the settings, though I'd really like to still keep it private to the general public or strangers (but wouldn't mind it being known to my friends). I'd rather not have to remind everyone.

If this sounds like why I may not be getting so many likes/comments/bday wishes, then what could I do about it to make it so that others will know it is my bday without making it public???
