Is the website Ebay legit?

Not being paranoid or anything , My parents got a new credit card and I want to get something quite expensive on it and It's my first time using it so I don't know how to judge it and the photo just looks like one they got off google images instead of taking it themselves but the feedback is 99.5%, Just any advice would be good thank you
I'm nearly 18 not 16 and it's just ebay I'm sure there are no physical risks I just wasn't entirely certain if it was sound, Thanks for the feedback!

i dont buy off of ebay that much because people dont take the pics themselves or theres something wrong with it that they dont say. id trust the imformation if you can tell the pics are theres

I wouldn't buy anything expensive off there, unless they have all positive reviews, and returns with FULL refund.

Ebay isn't the best place to buy something expensive. If it is an antique or jewelry, I would not buy it.

Make sure you read the description very carefully, and make your best judgement. If you have doubts, I would suggest against it.

It's about as secure as you're going to get for an online unregulated auction site. I've never had a problem with the site, but also haven't purchased anything really expensive either; most i think was like $50.
They also have a good customer support line that can help mediate a dispute if you believe a seller was being dishonest or scamming you; doesn't guarantee you will get money back but at least you're not out on an island alone if an issue arises.

As with any online purchase in an "as is" market there is always risk that you will just have to accept, but if we're judging the quality of the site in comparison to the competition it has to be near the top.

Yes it is but not all of the sellers on there are legit.

99.5% is good feedback but only if it's from hundreds of transactions

Instead of paying the eBay seller directly via credit card, you should set up a PayPal account and use it to pay the seller. I'm not sure exactly what they offer, but PayPal provide some kind of insurance to protect you if something goes wrong with the transaction.

Ebay has been around for 15 years that I know about and has 500,000,000 users so it is legitimate. How can you not know that? It is not illegal to use stock images from Google if you dont have your own. Thats what Google Images are for, in the public domain, to be used. Nothing wrong with that. Feedback is very good. Sometimes it is not the seller's fault when his feedback is under 100%.

You'd better read up in the Ebay help pages before bidding. Bids cannot be rescinded without consent of seller. Be careful before you bid. Unless seller is a merchant with a store most sellers cannot take credit cards. You have to give your credit card info to Paypal and establish an account in order to buy in Ebay in the U.S.
