My number is on Craigslist?
I'm posting a couple of ads on craigslist & I included my number but I haven't posted it yet. I read that people could look up my info by searching my number so I'm a little skeptical. Is it OK? and if not, how are people going to reach me then? Also, Do people usually pay less attention to ads without phone numbers?

You don't have to put your phone number. They ask you to use your email or a craigslist email. If you use a craigslist email you'll just have to login to make sure you respond to people. If you don't want your number on your ad then it's not necessary.

First, login to your Craigslist account and delete those ads with your telephone number right away.
Read all of the advisories Craigslist provides to protect yourself against fraud. 1. Always insist on cash. Accept nothing else. 2. Always meet buyers in a very public place, like a coffee house. Bring a friend. 3. Tell buyer that all sales are 100% final and no refunds will be offered. 4. Never post personal information in an ad. 5. In your ad, ask buyers to answer a trivial question to prove they aren't some type of robot or foreign scammer. Sample question: Who was US President in 2004? 6. Insist that buyers provide THEIR phone number first. Good advice: Give your used or unwanted items to family or friends, or sell to them. Better yet: Donate your items to charity. You could get a tax write-off if you itemize. |
