Is it an acceptable practice to ask Twitter followers to also like my Facebook page?
How else I can promote a page if I don't want to share it with my friends?

it can be..but the best way and the most trusted site to get twitter followers and facebook likes (fans) is to use http://www.keeko.com

You can promote both your facebook page and twitter accounts on social media exchange website.
They have services for getting facebook likes as well as twitter followers, in fact not services, exchange systems. You like, subscribe and follow others and you will get the same thing.
