My internet speed says I have 100Mbps but if I download something it downloads at 200kb/s to 300kb/s?
Why does it download at that speed if it says I have 100Mbps?

Your speed is decided by your isp.
Test it at speedtest.net. I get about 20 Mbps with Comcast, friends get about 38 Mbps with Verizon FIOS (fiber). Ads |

Make sure that any b in your question is capitalized correctly. A lowercase b is a bit, while a capital B is a byte. There are 8 bits in a byte.
Your download speeds are also affected by web browsing, not all your internet speed is used by just you downloading just that file. |

The 100Mbps is simply the speed of your hardwired connection from your PC to the router. The router to ISP connection is much slower and ends up being the bottleneck.
