How does ebates.com work. In the commercials they only say "ebates pays me to shop, ebates sends me a big fat check". How does it work?

I can guarantee you that you will spend more money than you will get back. Keep that in mind. They give you 'rebates' when you buy through them from different companies. It's much like using a coupon. You still have to buy something with your own money to get a small amount back.

What they advertise about Ebates pay you to shop is true.

So this is how it works:
If you log into ebates.com
Click on the place where you want to shop via ebates
You get a certain % of money back based on what they listed on their website
Go to your account and request to get your check
Furthermore, if you refer friends to sign up, you also get money back for that

So here is an example:
You want have an account with Ebates.com and you want to shop at macys.com. Instead of going straight to Macy's website, you log into ebates and search for Macys. Let's say ebates offer 7% cashback for Macys.

If you click on Macy's image on Ebates, it will redirect you to Macy's website. If you purchase something on Macy's website after clicking on that link, Ebates will give 7% back of what you spent.
