Some suggestions:

Check to make sure your network adapter is installed and working.

Switch cables / wires to make sure they are not damaged.

Sometimes old / outdated anti virus programs can cause internet problems.

Try this program called Complete Internet Repair: http://www.rizonesoft.com/free-downloads/
