What's wrong with my internet connection?

I use OpenDNS in the hopes that it was a DNS problem, but even using OpenDNS I get an issue where even if I'm connected to the internet, OpenDNS says that I don't have an internet connection and I can't load any pages in any web browser. I can still talk to people on Skype, I can't log into Steam or Origin or any games. I use a wireless USB dongle to connect to the internet, and I know that wireless internet is inherently unstable. When I switch access points from the two my dad split it into (Xboxwifi and PrettyFlyWifi) I get ~4 minutes, give or take, of internet surfing but beyond that I can't. Anyone know what my problem is?
