whats the best way to advertise your own things these days?

like how to give out musical mixtapes. im a first timer on this. but networking might sound like a good solution to give out your own music or a group your collaborating with. but i dont know how networking works. should i sell them or give out free copies first? any opinions??

Go on a site, i know myspace use to do but who goea on that anymore, anyway go to a site where u can leave samples of your music. Wherever u can upload music. Then take it from there.
