Why is my internet so slow?

I have DSL and also it's slow for everything that I use. And even if I have all my devices off it is still slow. During some rush hours it can have a ping of 600 and download .1 and upload .05. My friends pay the same and have the same provider as me but get 4 or 5.
I have upgraded to a newer router thinking that was it but it didn't really help.

Make sure all your cable are in clean up your history too.

may be a problem with the outside box, wires making some contact for what ever reason,, the best thing to do is contact your provider and they have to come down and check with there equipment for problems, also if you use a phone line and have land line phone it could interfere with signals. i doubt that the router is the problem. call your provider, they will straigten it out

DSL speed is a function of distance. The further you are from the CO the slower your speed. They could be 2 blocks from the CO while you are a mile and a half (which is the limit). Contact the service provider and see if they can provide any troubleshooting. Also, DSL is affected by noise on the line. Make sure all your phones have the filters on them. The provider is responsible for everything up to the box while you are responsible for the inside wiring if you don't have a service contract and if the problem is internal wiring and you don't and you have them repair it, it could get very expensive.

There are a lot of ways that can cause your internet service to become slow. Your DNS server could not be open, internet cache could be full, firewall could be set on high that doesn't allow much history, etc.
