Etsy is sort of like ebay in that the sellers on there are located all over the world; when you buy from Etsy, you aren't actually buying from *Etsy*, but a crafter or artist that has their stuff listed on the site. Most sellers on Etsy are small time crafters and artists doing what they love and trying to earn some money doing so- those are the types you can definitely trust because they're putting their hearts into it. There have been some problems on the site with resellers, people who don't actually make what they sell, but if you look at the location (country) of the shop owner before buying, you can sometimes tell if they're trustworthy or not based on where they are in the world. You can also look at the feedback to get an idea of how well they interact with their customers and the quality of what they sell.

I've been buying (and selling, too) on the site for almost six years and I've personally never had a problem with any of the sellers- if anything, they've been super nice and amazingly creative! (I do most of my Christmas shopping on there and my friends and family always love the uniqueness of the gifts.)

Just keep an eye on the shop's location and feedback and I think you'll be okay. Smile
