ad block plus not working on Firefox?

Firefox version:27.0
Ad-block Plus version:2.4.1
Element Hiding Helper for Ad-block Plus: 1.2.3
I also have an ad-on called block site v 1.1.8

When I brought my computer out sleep mode, after working perfectly the night before, I found that it was no longer blocking any ads. Not even popups where blocked and some places where there should be an add just appear as a grey background. I have had this problem before and I had to default my Firefox AND restore my computer a few days just to fix the problem. I'm hoping to get a better solution to fixing this problem this time than having to resort to the "worst case scenario" for a problem that someone else has probably fixed already.

It only works on IE.
