Facebook friend request?

A couple of times I've received an email which is connected to my Facebook saying that someone has sent me a friend request but when I look at my request page on Facebook, there is no request from this person, what is happening and why does it do this?

OK as for me it can be that the is a technical problem some were but with time I will see it

It could just be a problem on facebook's side or maybe the person is sending a request and then taking it back
