can i backlink all pages of my website?
My website has around 100 pages and all cover different categories of the same subject. Now if i want to rank all these pages for for their respective differt keywords can i backlink and do all offsite seo to increase each of their ranks separately? Basically treating each page like a different website and trying to rank them all for different keywords.

Would this work and is it allowed?

Linking to your home page only is old school thinking, individual pages get rank, some crazed about inflating their site appraised value for resale purposes will focus on getting high ranking to the home page, ideally though you should link to the inner page most relevant to the page your are linking from in order to look less spammy and to get better keyword ranking. Some begin a site with a shopping list of keywords they want to rank for and will create a dedicated inner page for each important keyword, then link from relevant pages occasionally using variations of that target keyword as anchor text to further help that page be your biggest ranking result for that keyword. There are formulas some offer to set the ration between home page and inner page links, 30% to the home page is right for some sites. Some SEO pros have said "A rising tide lifts all ships" suggesting any ranking page has some benefit to the entire site.

With renewed concern about being flagged as having "unnatural link patterns" some are making backlinks that they can later remove, some by linking to an intermediate page that redirects to a permanent page, if need be the url of an inner page can be altered to shed all backlinks to it, uniquely you are stuck with links that go directly to the home page, only gold standard links not likely to change to malware or p*rn sites at a later date should be linked to the home page.

keep in mind that linking your pages properly with correct keywords and descriptions helps your visitor navigate your site easier and isn't the visitor whom you are doing this for?

you do want him to visit your site and hang around for a while ---right?

Hi Matthew,

I understand that you have 100 pages website and each page is dedicated to a separate topic. However I wonder how much effort you would require to generate quality backlinks for these 100 pages? Isnt it like doing SEO for 100 different sites at a time?

I would hence recommend to try grouping the almost similar topic pages in to a category. This way you will be having a bunch of pages clubbed into a single category. Now if you have - for example 20 categories in your website (which will comprise 100 pages), - it means you need to do SEO for 21 pages only (including homepage).

This will not only reduce your efforts but also yield better results. Hope my answer meets your need. All the best!
