I hate this generation so much?
Hello! I'm 14 years old and I really, really don't like this generation. I love Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, The Doors, Jimi Hendrix, The Who, The Stranglers, The Beatles, and I love David Bowie too. Music has no meaning anymore, I could say so much about the music of today but I don't want to go into that. I would do ANYTHING to be able to see my favourite groups live and in their prime!
Everything now is completely messed up, I don't even know where to start. The media pretty much rules over everyone, kids just follow what everyone else does, hardly anyone is individual anymore. They sit on their computers and consoles all day, never go outside. Eventually, kids are going to lose their social skills, no ones going to know how to communicate with each other anymore.
Theres so much I could say, but I don't even know where to start.
It's been making me feel really down that I'll never experience the 60s or 70s, which I would do anything to live in. Most people my age are idiots. I want to go to Woodstock so badly! I despise this generation and it makes me really angry sometimes. I don't know anyone that shares the same passions as me.
Is this normal for someone of my age? How do I stop this from getting me down so much?

You're not like them. You don't have to feel miserable for these idiots.

Yeah I used to think that way too. You'll get over it. Listen. When I was your age I hated modern music. But honestly it takes a bit of getting over yourself and, really, opening your mind. If you are truly looking within yourself, you might just be able to like music based on something other than when it was made. I have studied music for 18 years. I have a master's in theory. My mom was a writer and so is my sister. I thought that I was above everyone because I could discuss the Beatles alongside Mozart and Chopin as an academic. But honestly, the day I realized that I also liked a little bit of Ke$ha, I was truly freed from the bondage of my own ego. My taste has no boundaries anymore. Now, everyone I meet, hates at least SOME of my music!!

You know, I feel the same way about this generation. I completely agree with you. Kids these days are so ignorant about everything(Some kids at my school didn't know the Malaysian plane disappeared until a week and a half later). Especially about music. Every song nowadays sounds exactly the same. I can't tell one song from another until I listen to the Chorus. But with the older songs(all the bands you mentioned) I can tell you what song it is by listen to the first 1-4 seconds of it. They songs were unique just like the people. Now, because everyone copies one another, everything is so generic. No individuality whatsoever. I wish I could go back to the 60s, 70s maybe even the 80s and just enjoy great music. I would love to go to Woodstock! I feel that this is a lost generation. But then I have some hope because there are people like you who go against this conformity. Thank you and keep rocking out! You've got a ear for good music!
