How do I get better at basketball/netball?

To start off, I'm okay with sports. I get high results academically and I do some lua codings and I sometimes design really basic 3D models.

However, there's a Inter-school netball competition and I really need. to compete in this event, whether I am a reserve or player. Classified reasons, but if I don't, I'm screwed.

I can't shoot. At all.
And I'm okay with a chest and bounce pass. But that's all I know.

Of course I know I have to practice, but I have no idea what to practice. My friends says to just learn how to shoot... but is it really that all?

In netball it helps to develop your vertical jump to help intercept passes. Work on your fitness to be able to handle the length of the game. Make sure your short sprints are quick and you know how to change direction (practice suicides). Shooting to score isn't the whole part of netball but you must work on basic ball skills. Look at thowing a ball against the wall with both then with one hand. Practice releasing and catching the ball. Accuracy is important as missed passes often go to the other team.
