Questions about Google Adwords?
1. What is the most expensive keyword?
2. Will you only get paid if somebody clicks on a website you created?
3. Say it costs £50 to advertise once, do you have to keep paying £50 everytime somebody clicks on a website you created?

If you and me were both selling candles and we did not appear naturally (organically) in Google for searches yet, we could "pay Google" (essentially) to show us on page 1 - in paid results (Google Adwords / SEM).

Now if YOU were paying Google £1 per click and I was only paying £0.50, the you would be higher than me - I would say "no more of that" and bid £1.50 per click. Now I am above you and if you want to go above me; shove up your bid!

Now, when someone types in "best candles" (if we were both writing about or selling candles) and me and you were paying Google to show or sites for that keyword (best candles) then that person who searched for it will see my site and yours on top of Google search results in ads. Now if THEY CLICK on my site, then instantly, I am charged £1.50 and you would be charged too if they clicked on yours.

So why are we bidding?? Well if you were "selling candles", then that click from that person could mean a sale and £5 in your pocket or after 20 clicks (£30 of ad clicks) you might make £40, then you are spending money to make money!

The cost per click is determined by 2 things - the AMOUNT of people bidding for Google to show them higher AND the value of the click - insurance related keywords can go for as high as £80 per click.

Best of luck.

Legal, insurance & Asbestos (mesothelioma) are among the highest CPC in adwords. If you log in to Google Keyword Planner and enter the keyword, "mesothelioma" it will show a CPC of around $250 - $300. e.g. a quick search on keyword planner for "mesothelioma compensation" gave a CPC of $268.95.
If your CPC is £50 then Yes you have to pay £50 every time somebody clicks on your ad.
Question 2 I am unclear about. I seems like you want to place google adsense ads on your site. You will not get paid just by people visiting your site. You will get paid when they click on an adsense ad on your site. The ad google places will be relevant to the content of your site.
How much you earn per click will depend what type of ad google places on your site.

There are exotic Doctor and Lawyer terms that competitive bidding have driven up to ridiculously high prices, but don't bother to target something like Mesothelioma, Google only shows such ads on authority sites, I have also heard that they cap the payout to publishes for high priced keywords to a fairly low amount.

Normally publishers get around 50% of the amount paid by the advertisers. Pick any subject matter that people spend money on, just focus on creating a popular publication that ranks highly in search results.

You can only place Adsense ads on a site you operate, generally it will be under your own domain name, many free hosts have ad revenue sharing schemes for sites using a free subdomain name. Google properties like Blogger and Youtube allow you to place Adsense ads on basic free pages you setup.
