Help with social anxiety please?
So a lil background info, i am 15 years old and am a sophomore in highschool. I am currently doing online schooling due to social anxiety (i was getting sick to my stomach sort of and missing school). this is my first year online and I have never really had friends except in school. I believe the last time i hung out with a friend outside of school was about 9 years ago or so.

My father will not let me have any social media so thats ruled out. Since i really didnt go anywhere outside of school with people they quit asking me to go places and that was that. I've been thinking about this lately on how out of social circumstances i am. I always heard people say that they went and did "blah blah" with a group of friends whether it was a basketball game or just hanging out. It makes me feel out of place.

Not to criticize my parents but i feel that in a way whenever i went to get a friend (when i was younger) they always seemed to disapprove and still sort of do so this has stopped me a bit. I have discussed this with my mother (the fact that they find faults in friends) and she doesnt understand where i am coming from and she got quite mad.

How can i help be more comfortable around people?

FYI, i only talk to one person that i went to school with but we dont do anything together. Also i have tried medication from my doctor they seemed to work but only for a short time/ kicked in later in the day so i had anxiety through quite a bit of the day. I am also thinking about going back to public school next year.

Thank you.

Going back to school should help just because you'll be around more people your age. I don't know how big your school is, but my high school was pretty big and diverse so there was someone for everyone to relate to. I am pretty shy in new social situations also, but just be yourself and put yourself out there whenever possible. Good luck! Smile
