What is the best platform to start a blog?

I'm looking to start a blog & when I did one 10 years ago, I used blogspot. That is outdated now. What are the latest, most aesthetically pleasing blog websites?

Tumblr.com is good, but I'm not sure what you are going to use it for.

Now very popular is WordPress. You can also get Wordpress code and install on your own server.

Personally, I prefer Wordpress. I find it more user-friendly but I can't deny the fact that Tumblr is now arising as one of the most popular blogging platform. If you want, you can also try Jimdo, Webs or Bravenet.
