Review on htc windows phone 8s?
Thinking of getting new phone, does the HTC windows phone 8s have snapchat, instagram, fb, twitter, good games, good camera, good Battery, good sound etc. Is it worth the money?

Hi Amy!

The 8s is among the best budget-to-mid range phones out there currently. Being a windows 8 phone it doesn't have snapchat but you can download whatsapp. Also, being a windows phone, it is taboo for the 8s to have instagram since it belongs to apple. However, windows has an alternative called lomogram which works just as great.

Now let's speak of features. The 8s has a pretty good 5 megapixel camera which produces sharp photos. It also has a 720p HD video recorder which produces great quality footages. The battery life is good enough to last a whole day with regular use. In fact, its battery life is also known to be one of its strongest points for a smartphone, especially compared to its more superior brother, the 8x.

Speaking of power, it has a 1 Ghz dual-core processor under its sleek body. The same power found in the Sony Xperia U and the Nokia Lumia 620..and that's not it!..It also happens to be the same power found in the mid-to-top range devices; the iPhone 4S and the LG Prada 3.0. By this measure, the 8S's strongest point is probably its power considering many budget phones don't have this amount of power.

Now, let's speak about its overall strongest point; Sound!..The 8s has 'beats' audio built in. Therefore it can thump loud and clear audio through loudspeaker or any headphones. The sound is so great it shouldn't even be questioned. Its audio quality is easily one of the best in the whole market of smartphones, never mind only in the budget range.

Storage-wise the 8s is great too. It has memory card slot which can take memory cards with a capacity of up to 32 GB.

Speaking of its display, it sports a Super LCD quality with a pixel density of 233 ppi (display sharpness basically) which are great figures for a budget phone. In fact, it has a sharper display then the mid-ranged Nokia Lumia 820, the legendary Samsung Galaxy S2, and the LG Prada 3.0, all of which have a pixel density of a mere 217 ppi.

As you might have figured out, my summary of the 8S definitely screams out that you should, without hesitation, buy it. However, if you were to change your mind the closest alternative, in fact, the better phone, is the Nokia Lumia 620 for around the same price which I would recommend more. However, some people have a problem with the fact that the Lumia 620 looks thicker and ugly compared to the sleek and sexy 8S.

It's a matter of taste, but to make things less confusing, just buy the 8S if you find it cheaper than the Lumia 620. However, if the 620 happens to be the same price or even cheaper, then you are better off with the 620 of course. That's because Nokia has its own apps added to the windows app market whereas HTC has no apps integrated for the windows app market. The maps are also far better on all lumia phones then htc windows phones. What's more is that the Lumia 620 has a front-facing camera and a sharper display with a whopping pixel density of 245 ppi...Hope I've helped.
