I'm looking for an Inexpensive Web Presence to get started as an Artist?
I have a domain name but am not ready to put the time and energy into a full-fledged web site. However, I'd like to get some type of presence on the web. I have a Facebook page so far but I'm looking to extend my reach beyond that. I'm exploring fine art, so as you know I'm currently starving! lol. I need something free or very cheap (thus no hosting space for now). I was thinking about a blog and linking my domain name to it? Thoughts? I'd eventually like to have a space that has links to pages where my work can be purchased. For now, I'm looking for some more exposure and networking. Thanks!

PS: If a blog, suggestions on which one? Or if another service, specific sites/links are helpful.

Tumblr is a free service that started out as an image sharing site. You could also go through Wordpress to get a free blog that's more traditional. Once you settle on one though you should definitely look into Pintrest and Instagram as other options of just spreading your work.

You reminded me this article (about the websites for artist) http://blog.webnode.com/blog/2013/04/how...h-webnode/

So http://webnode.com is definitely a good choice.

I agree that Pinterest is good tool for promotion. Tumblr as well and if you are not there yet, you can use DeviantArt.com

And if you are searching for something simple, but effective, try http://about.me (it is just internet personal card, but effective)

Etsy
Cafepress
Zazzle
Deviantart
Story Bird
Fine Art America.com
http://jackartgallery.com/
daily painters
http://www.mybestcanvas.com/
http://www.art-mine.com

This is my list of websites for that. Thought I started with etsy and FineArtAmerica . I strongly recommend you those 2. Etsy.com is wonderful for starting a business with art, fineartamerica is all free and nice, but has less customers a day then etsy.com

On etsy, you have to pay $0.2 for every painting you list on your page (for every 3 months) and when you've sold your work, you must pay 3,5% commission of the received price.
As an example ...this is my shop on etsy https://www.etsy.com/shop/DLaurasArt
and this is on fineartamerica http://fineartamerica.com/profiles/denis...doltu.html

I forgot to tell you one thing, fineartamerica is no longer the free website, because they let you to post only 25 items. If you want unlimited, you have to pay $30 per year. But you'll have a lot of privileges instead.

This is an invitation from my etsy shop http://etsy.me/1nHqlxQ ...using it, we will both get 40 free listings. That means you can open your shop on etsy for free.

Hope I've helped, and if you have any other questions please contact me at dlaurasart [at] gmail.com . I have experienced for more then one year what you're about to experience.
