People tell people about natural disasters.

We can rely on each other to get information. Before we had to rely on big media stations that may take hours to relay information to us. Now we can just read twitter feeds instantaneously.

Henry Jenkins has wrote a lot about this subject. He used to work at MIT and now works at USC. there are also youtube videos of him talking about this subject.

We don't need to watch tv anymore to learn about natural disaster. We can just go on twitter.
