What does voting mean on Wattpad?

I'm recently new to Wattpad and I don't know what it means by voting. I tried to find the answer in the help center but I couldn't find it.

I tried googling it but the answers are in the forums but I'm restricted from that area.

It would help me a lot to find out what that means.

Voting is like the like button on Facebook; if you like it, vote it. I think the more votes boosts popularity but it's just telling the author and potential readers that you liked it - it won't say on the book that you liked it but it will show up on your profile under "recent votes".
