What I mean is more being made with in the last 3 months then ever before in the history of the internet. I have been using the internet since before we all had the same inter-web. From the number of searches i have preform over the years only lately am i having trouble finding thing due to the number of fake websites or blogs or even youtube videos that come up. they are all 100% what the search engines think im looking for so they are not broken, the sites are just made to be top hits so you will click on them. And just like many other people trying to find things i do. and its a copy paste of 1,000 other sites trying to get me to download something or buy something or fill out a survey about something. what things i am searching for is not the point, its that what comes back is all useless. And after hours of re-terming what im looking for i still get the same things or nothing.

YES! It's also the biggest failure Google faces as a search engine. They push legitimate sites down in the rankings and continually rank sites that are completely bogus.

People are getting more sophisticated about "gaming the system". Y!A even has a section dedicated to Search Engine Optimization. The scammers even learned to put SCAM in their keywords. So anyone looking to see if a seller of fake basketball shoes is honest..... will see the scam website first when they search for "scams".

Google ranks sites based upon a number of metrics. No one, except people at Google, really know what the formula looks like. This is supposed to ensure that only the best and more relevant sites are listed at the very top.
However, many sites are created to make money for the owner of the site. It requires a lot of traffic to make money on the web, and many people have found ways to game the system. Many sites basically just work on one or two keywords that offer the opportunity to make a lot of money via ads.
These site owners have become very good at gaming the search engine to work in their favor and rank very high for these terms.
Until Google changes their algorithm, which they do quite often, these sites are going to continue to rank high for the word.
For now, you may want to look at lower ranking results and not rely on the top few for your answer. These may have what you're looking for.
