why won't my twitter notifications come through on my phone?

I have a Samsung galaxy ace, normally it will show me that I have a mention or interaction without having to click on the app, but I updated it the other day, and now nothing comes up unless I click on the twitter app and then refresh my notifications. How can I solve this?

did you sign up for it to send you a message to your phone because if not it wont send anything to your phone
