Why are 12 year olds so lovesick for one direction?? I'm thirteen and i dont get it?

Excuse you. Most of their fans are 13+ and have twitter. We fell in love with the boys on the stairs and by watching their video diaries. They makes us laugh and makes us happy.Yes they are gorgeous,but that's not the only thing we fell in love with. We fell in love with their personalities and their music.Overall One Direction are just 5 idiots and I love them for just being them.

okay well this is going to be a journey. there are fans that are 6 - 12 who only like them because they are "cool" and "hot" and call themselves fans when they really only like 1 -3 of their songs, and I hate that because the whole fanbase is put into some kind of figure of crazy psycho girls. In reality, most girls (or guys) look to music as an escape, and One Direction gave us that escape. Their music is actually really good and them being attractive is a bonus. But there are fans who have major family, social, or personal problems like eating disorders, depression, anxiety, bully victims, etc. and all that is needed is for at least one person to compliment them. that can make someones day. everyone has their opinions and that's totally fine, I respect that, but there are just people who go on hating on this band who has saved so many lives because they are themselves and it teaches people to be who they are. BUT ANYWAY the fans that sit on their device at 3 AM crying over them on tumblr who aren't crazy, who don't go to concerts, but love them because of who they are and the message they try to send out. those are what a lot of the fans are. woah this is long ok. yeah you don't know what people are going through or who cries themselves to sleep at night so don't hate on the only reason someone may be alive. but yeah no hate bc I don't want to start anything oops.

It really depends on the age I think. I feel like anyone under the age of 13, who loves One Direction likes them more so for their looks. They can't relate to any of the music & are a bit too young(I think) to understand their personalities & jokes. I think fans 13&up understand more. I'm 13 & I love One Direction. I don't JUST listen to the music. I watch interviews and things like that. I guess you could say I am obsessed but it's for different reasons than other people, especially those who are younger.

Other people may have gone through tough times & just appreciate the fact that they bring them some sort of happiness. They aren't 'obsessed', just highly appreciative of the fact that they can cheer them up in their darkest moments.

My dad even said, when he was younger, and the Beatles first came around, girls loved them for various reasons. He says he understands cause he was there for Beatlemania. Girls thought they were hot, they liked the music. Guys liked the music, too.

I'm older than you but not by much, and even I dont get why people love one direction, they're just like any other boyband. They aren't the most famous boyband to ever exist, it's just due to social media that people are convinced that they are. They are good looking, and do seem like nice guys, but I think some of their fans are too attached, because just like every other boy band, they aren't going to be together forever, they're fame will decrease, and they will break up one day.
