Will google penalise a site if the same content is on another site?
If I put the same content from my ebay listings onto my ecommerce website will google drop the site?
Thanks 10 points. Ads |

No that will be no problem, if you duplicated someone else's How to Buy in Ebay article, it would have less ranking power than an original power but could still be a positive factor. Having a site with zero original content might tend to keep it in the backpages of search results.

As long as your website is not a scraper site, you should be fine. Although, having whole pages with content solely from ebay would pose a problem and you'll not be offering no value to search engines.
If the ebay content is posted within your existing pages and complements the content of your page, then there's no reason for penalties. |

The main problem with duplicate content is that it does not add any ranking power to your website. Ebay is a high ranking website while the ranking of your own ecommerce site is probably lower. If you post the same content on Ebay and on your website, Ebay will always be on the top of search results for relative keywords while your website will be somewhere on the bottom and you will not get visitors to your site with such content. So, it would be much better to modify your content from your Ebay listings, at least partially, before you put it on your website.
